About the Book

Women entrepreneurship is a catalyst of economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction. Women's economic advancement boosts growth, as well as other positive development outcomes, promotes regional diversification and income equality. Harnessing the potential of women as entrepreneurs is a powerful way of slowing down the current gender disparities in the economy which ultimately leads to progressive growth. Women have the capacity, calibre and capability of proving their worth in the vigorously active world of entrepreneurship. The need of the hour is to exploit the economic potential of women for inclusive and sustainable industrial development. Even though more and more women are entering the dynamic world of business, they are still facing numerous hurdles
in running their businesses successfully. Their entrepreneurial journey is not as smooth as that of their male counterparts and there is a need to remove discriminatory barriers against women. Social, economic, cultural and psychological barriers tend to hinder their participation in the economic activity of a nation. The common obstacles hindering the growth of women entrepreneurs in India are lack of education, lack of support from the family, lack of self-confidence, male dominance, stiff competition, a limited network, limited access to finance, lack of mobility, etc. Motivating and stimulating environment provides women entrepreneurs wings to widen their horizons by removing barriers to their growth and achievement. Despite facing overwhelming resistance at every step of the
entrepreneurial lifecycle, from fighting socio-cultural perceptions, achieving balance between personal and professional life, to securing financial and technical support, women entrepreneurs have managed to stay motivated and committed to their dream of making it big in their entrepreneurial ventures.
