About the Book

The cultivation of vegetable and fruit crops is a vital aspect of global food security, providing essential nutrients and economic benefits to countless communities. However, the production of these crops is increasingly threatened by a wide range of diseases, both fungal and bacterial, that compromise yield and quality. As a result, effective disease management has become a cornerstone of modern agricultural practices. This book, Disease Management in Fruit & Vegetable Crops: Key Approaches and Techniques, seeks to offer comprehensive insights into the strategies and methods available for mitigating the impact of diseases on these essential crops. The text serves as a guide for farmers, agricultural researchers, extension workers, and students to understand the intricacies of plant pathology and its application in practical, sustainable crop protection. The first part of this book delves into the fundamental principles of plant disease diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of early detection and accurate identification. The subsequent chapters explore a wide array of disease management strategies, ranging from traditional cultural practices to cutting-edge biotechnological innovations. Special attention is given to integrated disease management (IDM), an approach that combines biological, chemical, and mechanical methods to manage crop health holistically and sustainably.
