About the Book

This edited volume, “Recent Trends and Innovations in Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry,” is the result of a concerted effort by the editors to address the dynamic and multifaceted challenges facing Indian agriculture in the present era. Recognizing that the nation’s agricultural sector is at a critical juncture with issues ranging from climate variability, unsustainable land use, inadequate technological adoption, labour shifts, and missing links between research and field practices, the editors began this project by systematically reviewing current gaps and future needs across the landscape. In this process, special emphasis was placed on identifying pressing areas such as climate-resilient crop development, regenerative soil health practices, sustainable horticulture, forest health and conservation practices, market-driven innovations, adoption of digital tools, and the need for robust extension services. Our vision in developing this book is particularly rooted in the context of how agriculture can be transformed to effectively address the pressing challenges of climate change through innovation and digitalization. With these gaps as a guiding compass, the editors designed a content structure that gives prominence to region-specific challenges, diversity
in farming systems, and the potential of emerging technologies to transform traditional agriculture. The central aim of the book is to bring together contributions from a broad spectrum of researchers, practitioners, and policy experts drawn from across the length and breadth of India, thus ensuring that a rich variety of agro-climatic experiences and innovative approaches finds a place in this compilation. The editors have tried their utmost to facilitate participation from PAN India, inviting voices from leading national institutes, grassroots organizations, established universities, and field practitioners, thereby enabling the book to serve as a comprehensive platform for scientific discourse and knowledge sharing.
