About the Book

It gives me great pleasure to write the Foreword to Shakespearean Souls, Twittering Tongues: An Anthology of Reimagined Heroes and Heroines of Shakespeare, a volume that reflects both creative innovation and scholarly engagement with one of the most enduring figures in world literature. William Shakespeare has remained relevant across centuries not merely because of his mastery of language, but because of his profound understanding of human nature. His characters continue to speak to us across time, culture, and geography, articulating emotions and conflicts that remain central to the human experience. In the present age—marked by rapid technological advancement, digital communication, and evolving modes of self-expression—the need to revisit Shakespeare from fresh
perspectives become both timely and necessary. This anthology represents a thoughtful and imaginative response to that need. By re-situating Shakespeare’s iconic characters within contemporary contexts shaped by social media, artificial intelligence, ecological concerns, and digital identities, the contributors demonstrate how classical literature can meaningfully engage with present-day realities. These creative re-imaginings do not merely modernize Shakespeare; they enter into a dialogue with him, revealing the enduring relevance of his dramatic vision while addressing the ethical, emotional, and cultural dilemmas of our times.
