About the Book

The advent of gene editing has heralded a new era in agriculture, where precision and innovation converge to address the pressing challenges of global food security, climate change, and sustainable farming. With unparalleled potential to reshape the genetic makeup of crops and livestock, gene editing techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9, TALENs, and ZFNs have empowered scientists and breeders to enhance traits, improve yields, and fortify resistance to pests and diseases. Principles of Gene Editing: Techniques and Applications in Agriculture serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding the foundations and applications of this transformative technology in the agricultural landscape. This book is designed to cater to a wide audience, including students, researchers, educators, and practitioners in the fields of genetics, plant breeding, and biotechnology. Through meticulously curated chapters, the book delves into the fundamental principles of gene editing, exploring its scientific underpinnings and methodologies. It further examines its application in key agricultural sectors, highlighting case studies that demonstrate its impact on improving crop resilience, nutritional quality, and environmental adaptability.
