About the Book

Insects have long been both a boon and a bane for agriculture. As essential components of the ecosystem, they contribute significantly to pollination, nutrient cycling, and soil health. However, for horticultural crops, insect pests can present considerable challenges, threatening both yield and quality. The delicate balance between the benefits and detriments of insects underscores the need for careful management strategies that safeguard the health of crops without harming the environment. This book, Insect Pest Management in Horticultural Crops, was conceived with the aim of providing a comprehensive and practical guide to understanding and managing insect pests in horticulture. Horticultural crops, with their wide variety of plant types and production systems, are particularly vulnerable to pest infestations. The complex interactions between pests, plants, and the environment require an integrated approach to pest management that blends scientific research, practical knowledge, and eco-friendly solutions. The content presented in this book draws upon years of research and the collective expertise of specialists in entomology, crop protection, and horticulture. We have carefully curated chapters that cover a wide spectrum of topics, from identifying the most common insect pests of horticultural crops to exploring innovative, sustainable pest control methods. The book delves into the biology of pests, examines the impact of pest management on crop health, and emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices that minimize chemical inputs.
