About the Book

Soil lies at the heart of agriculture, yet it remains one of the most underutilized and misunderstood resources in modern farming. As we face the urgent challenges of climate change, food insecurity, and environmental degradation, there is a growing need for smarter, more sustainable land management practices. Precision Soil Science: Techniques for the 21st Century addresses this need by presenting a comprehensive look at how technology and data-driven methods are transforming soil science. This book serves as a bridge between traditional soil knowledge and cutting-edge innovations. It begins by exploring the fundamental role of soil in sustainable agriculture, then moves into advanced tools and techniques—ranging from geospatial mapping and remote sensing to artificial intelligence, sensor technologies and precision irrigation systems. Each chapter is designed to equip readers with the insights and tools necessary for making site specific decisions that improve soil health, increase productivity, and reduce environmental impact.
