The present textbook, Teaching of Science, has been prepared with the objective of providing student-teachers with a clear understanding of the fundamental principles, methods, and innovations involved in science education. It has been designed in accordance with the B.Ed. curriculum and the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes experiential learning, inquiry-based pedagogy, and integration of technology in the teachinglearning process. This book attempts to blend both theoretical and practical aspects of science teaching. It covers essential areas such as the meaning, nature, and aims of science education; methods and approaches of teaching; lesson planning; instructional aids; evaluation techniques; and innovations like e-learning, MOOCs, and the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Sandeep Kaur is a dedicated science educator and academic leader with more than 17 years of experience in teaching and teacher education. She is presently serving as Officiating Principal. She holds prestigious qualifications including M.Sc. (Zoology), M.Phil. (Zoology), M.Ed. (Gold Medalist), UGC-NET (Education), and a Ph.D. in Education. She has served in diverse roles, including Science Mistress in a Government School of Punjab, Lecturer in Zoology in a reputed degree college, and Assistant Professor in Teaching of Science, which reflects her strong grounding in both scientific knowledge and pedagogy. Dr. Kaur has contributed numerous research papers to national and international journals and has participated in academic conferences and seminars at different levels. Her professional interests include science pedagogy, adolescent development, scientific attitude formation, educational technology, and academic leadership.
